On October 21, 1999 Leon McDowell, Timothy Anderson and William Moody collectively known as the 3 Wise Men created Gamma Psi Lambda Fraternity, Inc. The Fraternity was created because of the need for an organization where Christian Men could gather & fellowship with one another.

  National Programs

 

Teen Pregnancy/STD Awareness:

Adult Literacy:  This progam is designed to help those adults who didn't get a high school diploma, meet the neccessary requiremnts to earn their GED. By teaching them the basic math and english skills, we will be helping them meet those requirments and in many cases get better jobs.

Mentoring Program: To be a Gamma Mentor one must show

  • Participation
  • Enthusiasm
  • Positive Attitude
  • Understanding
  • Social Interaction
  • Leadership Skills
  • Assertiveness

This programs is dedicated for our young adults, we try to show them that there are many avenues to success, other than joining a gang or selling illegal drugs. Our goal is to make kids want to better their future through educational awareness, social opportunity, and community service. The Gems use this time to provide information and support to battered women and kids.

Adopt a Grandparent: Each member of Gamma Psi Lambda shall vist the local nursing home and select an indivdual or individuals( not to exceed 3) to spend quailty time, bring gifts, read stories, as well as provide them an ear to listen to when they have something to say. Our goals are to make the individual feel the warmth of family love.

Stay In School: This progam is designed to keep high school kids interested in striving for a higher educational level of excellence. Our goal is to get as many high school seniors to apply for college. We provide them with the applications, and try to explain to them the college life as well as how it can help them get a positive jump on life. We also talk to high schools juniors about preparing for the next level of education.

Help the Homeless: We do some things for and with the local homeless shelter. In attempt to make things better for those people who don't have it as easy as most. We help by providing food, clothing, and we try to help them get back their confidence to gain back self esteem.
